WoW, this game sucks

World of Warcraft sucks. At least with a first person shooter or a sports game, a beginning player at least has a chance of success against someone with experience. But with WoW, you have to play the game all the damn time just to be an average player. Grinding, leveling up, and gold farming are all things that sound more like work than play.

No, I haven't tried the game. Just like with heroin, I don't need to try it to know that it's bad for me. I just need to see what it does to other people. Although I suspect that is why heroin and World of Warcraft are so popular. People hear about the lengths that addicts and players go to get their fix or complete a quest, they hear about how people destroy their lives in the process, and they think "Wow, if they are are willing to put themselves through all that, it must really be fun!"

Election 2012

Folks, at least be honest about the reasons you vote the way you do.

Pro-tip: A typing test is widely considered the most objective measure of an administrative assistant's competency. When deciding between multiple applicants with the same typing speed, hire the ugliest of all the applicants. This way, nobody will suspect that you are sleeping with her.

Breaking down the "Payphone" video by Maroon 5

In this video, we see Adam Levine, the lead singer of Maroon 5, steal a gun from a bank robber and rescue one of the employers. At 1:49, we clearly see him drop his gun and yet the police shoot at him. Instead of surrendering to the police and trying to clear up any misunderstandings, he steals a car and leads the police on a chase. So it's clear to both the audience and the protagonist that the police are out to get him. But the reason why isn't clear to the audience. I've narrowed it down to several theories. 1) They just found out that he is the bank executive who embezzled their pension funds. 2) They want to improve their marksmanship so that they are ready to face the actual bankrobbers 3) They are shooting at Adam Levine because fuck that guy.

How to unclog a laundry chute

I'm getting traffic from people doing searches for "how to unclog a laundry chute". This post is for those people. Methods will vary from chute to chute. But here are some general guidelines.

 >DON'T try to unclog it by dropping heavy objects down the chute. Clothes packed into a tight space can support a lot of weight. And if you are having a hard time removing a pair of jeans from the chute, you'll have an even harder time removing a pair of jeans and a brick.

 >A wire hanger is a good choice. The drawback is that you'll risk snagging your clothes. This warning might come late for some, but you probably should avoid throwing your Sunday best and your designer slacks down a tight space that might have nails sticking out.

 >Your friends told you to use a broomstick. But you need something that's more flexible than that. Try a long piece of PVC pipe. You can also try wire stakes from a yard sign. I happen to have plenty at my house, but some of you might ask a politically minded friend if you can have one.

>When all else fails, you might have to cut through the wall. Make sure that there aren't any wires or pipes where you are cutting. The chute itself will probably be made of sheet metal or wood with a smooth, coated surface. In my case, I was able to use a claw hammer to tear out the drywall to get to the chute, then I used tinsnips to cut the chute open. But you might have to find a power saw that can cut through wood, metal, and plaster.
