While shopping today, I saw DVD copies of the movie "Gettysburg" on sale for $9.99. Also available on the exact same sales rack were packages containing both "Gods and Generals" and "Gettysburg" for $9.99.
Apparently the movie "GaG" sucks so bad that a DVD of it does nothing to increase the price of "Gettysburg.

ReplyDeleteGettysburg is one of my favorite films...so well done in scope and pageantry.
I actually went to opening night in NJ...saw most of the 28th PA reenactment group there IN UNIFORM.
Historically, it's damn close, and artistically, it's just plain fantastic.
Can't say the same for Gods & Generals...too drawn out, and didn't have the same intensity or urgency that Gettysburg did.
While I wouldn't say it "sucks", it does wear on one...
