I work third shift, and now they are telling me that it is linked to cancer. Except I don't think that third shift alone would cause an increased cancer. What would cause an increased risk is increased caffeine and tobacco consumption among third shift employees, and sleep deprivation. I'd take this study more seriously if it accounted for those factors.

  1. Third shift is the hardest shift to work. And the stress of being up all night when your brain says "you should be sleeping right now," probably takes a toll on one's body.

Still, I'd rather work third shift. It's probably safer than having Britney Spears as your mom.
